Folger-specific note
Leaf []1, damaged, affecting text on verso. Initials rubricated in red and blue, alternating irregularly; paragraph marks also provided in alternate red and blue in 1st gathering; towards the end of the book, many of the rubricated initials are smudged and bleed through (many offset onto the facing page). Several sets of manuscript notes on endpapers, in Latin and Italian, with date 1525; a few manicules in text. Inscription on title page: M. Ioannis Bãpta[e] Castilioni [...?]. 15th cent. Italian goatskin binding, blind tooled; central bosses remaining and evidence of 4 corner bosses on front and back covers; 2 clasps (straps and catches replaced); central panels with same quadrangular ropework knot and star shaped stamps on both front and back covers; also floral design stamps used on inner border on both covers; inscription of title on head edge, reading from spine to fore-edge; in a tailored box. Purchased in 1902.
