Folger-specific note
Folger copy: last gathering of 2 conjugate leaves, possibly from another edition (wider margins bear 16th century manuscript notes in a different handwriting, colophon repeated in manuscript at end of text on verso of leaf CCXCVIII); error in numbering of leaf CCXLVII corrected using white paint; error on leaf CCXXIX corrected with white paint and brown ink; small hole in leaf CLIX, slightly affecting text.
Early manuscript notes in brown ink in several hands in parts of the book; a note relating to persecution of Jews in Brandenburg in 1510 on verso of leaf CCXXX, affected by cropping of edges; in a few woodcuts of cities which have been re-used for other locations, city name has been erased.
Early manuscript note of ownership on back pastedown, defaced, illegible; bookplate "Albert Natural", and large bookplate of the Baron Bethmann; purchased in 1964.
Sixteenth century German pigskin binding blind tooled with borders made of medallions of Reformers and New Testament figures; remains of 2 clasps (repaired); 5 metal bosses. See oversized curatorial file for rubbing of front board.
Curatorial file available.
