First initial on leaf a2r, left blank; all other initials and paragraph marks provided in alternate red and blue; capital strokes in red in most of the book. Manuscript notes in brown ink, in several hands (some early), with underlining, brackets, and manicules; initial on leaf a2r and a few figurative drawings in rubricated initials, added in brown ink. Ownership inscription on leaf a2r, defaced, illegible; a few penciled notes on front flyleaf about book and binding prices with date "1[?]/12/89"; booklabel of Charles Butler (no. 1972 in the Sotheby sale catalog of his library, May 1911); bookplate of W.T.
