Both parts' prefaces are signed by the compiler: C. Bayley.

After p. 470 comes the 'Hymn on the last day: said to have been written, during a storm at sea, by Richard Kempenfelt, ... Rear Admiral of the Blue: ...', which hymn has at foot of the verso page: C. B., i.e. Cornelius Bayley; the index follows this hymn, and then an advertisement leaf for books published by the Rev. C. Bayley, and finally an errata leaf.

A second edition was published in 1794 under Cornelius Bayley's name.
