Folger copy 24 wants all of the prelim. gathering [superscript pi]A. Leaf [superscript pi]A1+1 (title leaf) is supplied in facsim., and to approximate the appearance of a 1st Folio, a genuine port. in state 4 (appropriate to the 4th Folio) has been laid into the facsim. title leaf. Inserted facing the facsim. title page is a leaf into which has been laid the verses signed "B.J." from a copy of the 4th Folio. Other prelim. leaves from a copy of the 4th Folio (gathering A) have been inserted, as well as ports. (each laid into a leaf ) of "William Herbert Earl of Pembroke &c." and "Philip Earl of Pembroke, &c." The leaves bearing the verses, the facsim. title page, and the additional ports. are ruled in manuscript Leaf A1 has been cut out, losing most bordering rules and the catchword on the recto; the leaf is inlaid and ruled in manuscript Leaf A2 has been closely trimmed, losing the catchword on the recto and small parts of the bordering rules. Leaf 3[par.]1 is ruled in manuscript and inlaid.
