Scope and content
Regrets long delay in answering (his) very flattering letter of the 30th of April. Due to his photographer's death and a fire on his premises, he is unable to send the cartes-de-visite that Biss requested, so he is sending a photo of a recent bust of him by Durham. Also regrets that due to his failing eyesight, he is unable to write the letter himself-- only to sign it.
Note
Also includes an envelope contained in small paper folder with brief biography of Knight pasted to front and newspaper articles pertaining to him pasted inside. Folder has stamped imprint Paris in upper left hand corner and 11270 written in ink. At bottom of letter, pencil writing in unknown hand contains notes about Knight's life.
