From dealer's description: "3. 鏡花水月[Kyō ka Suigetsu] Shakespeare, William; Watanabe, Osamu [translated by]. Tō kyō : Shū seisha, Meiji 21 [1888]. An early adaptation by Watanabe, "a conscientious student of Shakespeare and the possessor of a fine style" (Shakespeare in Japan: An Historical Survey, p. 108), of The Comedy of Errors. The title means "The Flower in the Mirror and the Moon on the Water". In the preface, Watanabe emphasised his "aim to preserve the play's original structure" (Shakespeare, Reception and Translation: Germany and Japan, p. 64). Original wrappers, worn and lightly stained. Occasional minor stains and ex-ownership marks to text. Small wormhole to lower wrapper and last few leaves. 1 v., complete. 12, 2, 193 p., 10 p. of ads + [1] unnumbered p. of illustrations. 18.4 x 11.9 cm. Only one physical copy outside of Japan in OCLC."
