Note
Presumably the prototype for the casket carved from Herne's oak by William Perry (Folger Wood no.14). Designed to hold Burdett-Coutts's Shakespeare First Folio and quarto edition of Shakespeare's poems (Folger STC 22273 Fo.1 no.05 and Folger STC 22344 copy 1, respectively) which she had acquired indirectly from the George Daniel sale, sold by Sotheby, Wilkinson & Hodge, 20 July 1864, lot nos. 1416/1457.
