The manuscripts consist of the correspondence of Colonel Edward Popham and "part of the great collection of Sir William Clarke and his son George--the bulk of which was bequeathed by Dr. G. Clarke to Worcester college library on his death in 1763". The Clarke papers include, in addition to correspondence, an autobiography of Dr. George Clarke and a narrative of the restoration by Sir William's uncle, John Collins. cf. Introd.
