Note
Two fragmentary poems: the first (Known in the 16th century as Mum, Sothsegger) forms part of a collection of treatises added to a copy of the B text of Piers Plowman in the Cambridge university library Ll. IV. 14; edited by Skeat in his edition of Piers Plowman under the title "Richard the Redeled", and ascribed by him to Langland. Edited by Thomas Wright for the Camden society, 1838 and in his Political poems and songs, 1859 (v.1, p. 368-417) under title "On the deposition of Richard II." The second fragment, a recently discovered 15th century manuscript (now Brit. mus. Add. 41666) is considered by the present editiors identical in language and form with it forming part of one larger composition. cf. Introduction, Camb. hist. Eng. lit., v.2, p. 41-42; Brit.
