Quarter purple leather binding with purple boards and gilt title on spine. Each volume has bookplate: Kurt Wolfgang Börlin. Volume 1 has a portrait of Shakespeare tipped in on front fly-leaf. Some of the plates of illustrations may have been removed from the Folger's copy. Volume 4 has a German advertisement for a performance of Taming of the Shrew laid in at the beginning of Hamlet.
