[2], 6 p. ; (fol.)
Associated name
Note
Signed on p. 4: Elizabeth Cellier.
A satirical account of the career of Thomas Dangerfield and a reply to "Tho. Dangerfield's answer to a certain scandalous lying pamphlet entituled, Malice defeated, or, The deliverance of Elizabeth Cellier."
Originally published in the same year as part of Mrs. Cellier's "Malice defeated" with title "The matchless picaro."
Wing confuses this work with Wing C1661, which is in two settings and has either "46[48]pp." (as reported in error for Wing C1662) or "48pp." (as reported in error for Wing C1662A). The work being catalogued here has "[2], 6 p." and, according the four copies seen (CSmH, MRc, NNUT, CLC), is in a single setting. Thus it should have only one Wing number. Cataloguer has arbitrarily chosen the first of the two numbers assigned to this work by Wing as the number to be used, i.e. Wing C1662. Wing C1662A is a ghost and should be cancelled.
This is a PRELIMINARY RECORD. It may contain incorrect information. Please email catalog@folger.edu for assistance.
