Includes 155 selected ballads, presented in modern fonts, but laid out as they were originally, including original artwork (woodcuts). The recordings are of mostly unaccompanied individual singers (men and women).

A teaching edition and guide to the online Pepys Ballad Archive (PBA), conceived as the first phase and companion to EBBA (the online English Broadside Ballad Archive (http://ebba.english.ucsb.edu)). The PBA is the product of a team affiliated with the Early Modern Center of the English Department at the University of California, Santa Barbara with considerable aid from the Department of Music.
