Summary
Concerns the enforcement and interpretation of rules by customs officers in relation to the importation of French commodities into England under the poll bill of 1677-1678. Much of the commentary relates to the frequent practice of mixing French wines and brandies with those from Germany and Portugal, contributing to the difficulty in determining the origin of wines, brandies, and vinegars.
