The first Boston edition, probably edited by David Francis. There were two subsequent editions in 1807 and 1810-1812 (Jaggard p. 508). W.W. Clapp in his record of the Boston Stage, 1853, says "The notes were rewritten and condensed by Mr. Munroe from an English edition and subsequently adapted by several publishers."
Title and imprint from volume 1 vol. title page found in part 1.
Odd numbered parts with the 8 volume half-titles and engraved vol. title pages lettered Gridley sc.; portrait vignettes engraved by Dr. Alexander Anderson of New York (Jaggard).
Front wrappers dated as follow: part 1 dated 1802; parts 2-12 dated 1803; parts 13-16 dated 1804.
Plays are paginated separately, and are signed continuously per 8-volume order.
