Summary
In the center, a hunter on a rearing horse thursts a spear down towards a wolf at the lower left as dogs attack; to viewer's left, another hunter on foot attacks the wolf with a pike. In the background, other scenes from the hunt within an enclosure bordered by an extensive netted fence in the distance. Four lines in Latin below: Hic currente lupo per aperti gramina campi ... canibus fit preda cruentis.

The third of six numbered plates depicting hunts, published in Antwerp, first by the widow of Hieronymus Cock (Volcxken Diericx) in 1574 and later by Adriaen Collaert (after 1601) and Carel Collaert (after 1618). Several of the other plates signed by monogrammist FLB. (New Hollstein)
