Artist: Artist appears to be of a school of architectural and topographical artists. The drawing has some measurements and letters noted on sections of the building.
Provenance: Item has been glued onto p. 155 of the 3rd volume of a 36 volume extra illustrated edition of Shakespeare. For further information on volume and provenance see entry for "VanAssen, Benedictus Antonio. Three hooded figures."
Subject: Sketch depicts the front facade of the row house of the noted 17th century actress and courtesan Nell Gwyn. DNB mentions several houses in which Gwyn is said to have dwelled but none of them are noted as being in St. James's Square.
