Note
Artist: Artist is the same as that of the 3 items entered under "Anonymous. Scenes of Stratford-on-Avon." Both sets of watercolors have been added to the same extra illustrated set of Shakespeare. The work is possibly that of Captain Gabriel Bray. A drawing from the Stratford set bears what might be a faint signature. For more information on the artist see entry for the Stratford set.
Provenance: Items are glued onto pages which have been tipped into volume 1 and 13 of an extra illustrated copy of the Works of Shakespeare, 1881 edition, edited by Staunton (before p. 21 in v. 1 and before p. 5 and 17 in v. 13). For complete information on the volumes and provenance see entry for "Anonymous. Shakespeare's crest."
Subject: Items are not labeled so subject identification is taken from sight. I believe the drawings are of the Globe Theatre, or an early Bankside theatre in London, Westminster Abbey and a view of the Thames in front of the Tower.
Surfaces of paintings are slightly abraded. The coloring in all three is quite similar, being predominantly greens and blues. Unsigned.
