Artist: The label underneath the painting may possibly be incorrect since the Cattermoles (all three of them) were known as artists rather than engravers and Pyne was known as both an engraver and an artist. The work may possibly have been done by George or Robert Cattermole, both were known to have worked in this style. Robert worked on illustrations for works by John Britton as did Pyne and was known mostly for his drawings of churches. Work may have been engraved to illustrate a work of Knight's or Brittons. Dickens, the former owner of the volume in which this work is found was known to have been a friend of George Cattermole.

Bookseller's clipping on flyleaf states that the book contains a watercolor sketch of Stratford Church by Cattermole.

Provenance: Item has been added to a volume which is described by a bookseller's catalogue entry glued to the book's flyleaf as 'Knight's Land We Live In : the Chapters on Stratford-on-Avon, Windsor, with Shakespeare's Merry Wives of Windsor, and Edinburgh ... used by Charles Knight when visiting the respective places, and bought at his death by Charles Dickens, whose Library label it contains.' This information is doubtful since Dickens died three years before Knight. The book does however bear the bookplate of Dickens' Library, dated 1870. Binding title reads: Memorials of a week in Scotland 1848. Bought by the Folgers from Pearson, July, 1904.
