Title taken from label written underneath. 'Harding written in pencil along the lower border of the piece. Cibber is portrayed standing, to left with his right hand extended and his left hand on his hip. The picture is full figure.
Artist: Harding was an artist who copied old portraits and had them engraved, usually publishing them in such works as 'Illustrations to Shakespeare' and the 'Biographical mirrour'.
History: According to information on an engraving of Cibber in similar pose and dress, this portrait was taken from a drawing by Thomas Worlridge in the Musgrove Collection, engraved by R. Clamp and published by E. & S. Harding in 1794. Published in Harv. cat. no.5 under Cibber.
Provenance: Item is housed in a copy of George Daniel's Garrick in the green room ... 1829.
