The first item is done completely in brown ink, the second is written in grey and illustrated in watercolor. The first is unsigned, the second is initialed in the lower left 'G.C.G.'
Artist: George C. George was not an artist but rather a collector of Shakespearean illustration. He formed the collection to which these items have been added.
Subject: The first item, which has been added as an extra illustration to the text of King Henry V, shows the line of succession of the English kings from Edward I to Henry V. The second item, added to King Henry VI pt. 1, shows the genealogy of the British rulers from Edward III to Henry VI and his son. The second item is more elaborate than the first.
Provenance: Items have been added to volumes 5 and 6 of an extra illustrated copy of the 1802 Boydell edition of Shakespeare's works. For information on volume and provenance see record for Duval, A. View of.
