Summary
The words "Inter Chorum et alam aus" are printed at top of design. In a black niche the figure of Donne stands in his winding sheet, his feet in an urn. Over the niche is a square tablet with a Latin inscription. Above, supported by bunches of fruit and leaves, is a coat of arms. In upper r. corner of design in a tablet is a Lat. inscription by Margaret, wife of Christopher Clapham of Bramesley, who laments the profanation of so many churches and wishes to perpetuate the memory of the honey-tongued and eminent Doctor John Donne.--Adapted from Pennington.
