Regarding old stage superstitions (such as the unluckiness of "whistling or singing of Locke's music in Macbeth"), and indicating his habit of "going by the 'rule of contraries' - Friday is my favorite day. My new pieces have (in the Provinces) been invariably produced on that day & I often travel with a company thirteen in number."
