Summary
Contains many attributed and dated recipes in multiple hands. Primarily consists of medical recipes, but also a number of recipes for puddings, wines, preserves, and pastry (p. 23-29, 49-50, 53-54, 57), "To make Ink Mr Bower's way" including the note that "Galls make Ink Red, Copprice makes it blew" (p. 32), "to Colour Paper" (p. 42), and "for wax work" (p. 44). Predominant hand may be that of William Fell, who signs a note on p. 37 commenting on taking millipedes with wine as a treatment "for Rhume and Dimness." Sources of recipes are quite varied, ranging from doctors, "my mother" (p. 47, 51) and other relatives, landed gentry and "Matt: coach man" (p. 52). Dates in manuscript range from 1679-1694.
