Frontispiece to G. Daniel, Garrick in the green room, 1829.
Print is from a painting formerly attributed to Hogarth, now known to be by Longhi. Despite the title of the engraving, the painting more likely depicts Garrick in a Venetian salon, although there is some doubt whether the central character is meant to be Garrick at all (see Highfill). Additional misidentifications have been made in this print of the crowd, who are identified as assorted English actors of the time in a key beneath the image.
