Summary
Manuscript notes and photocopies of articles collected by Tucker for use in writing an article entitled "Pallbearer for the bard: the strange case of Dr. Edmund Helder." Includes two copies of the article, as it appeared in the Commentary section of The Virginian-pilot and the ledger-star on July 24, 1988, which debunks the theory that Helder was a pallbearer for Shakespeare. Includes photocopies of "Virginia, first and last," the Moncure Conway article which first popularized this theory (from March 1865 issue of Fraser's magazine), "Hunting a mythical pall-bearer" (from Harper's new monthly magazine, Jan. 1886), "The tombstone of Dr. Edmond Helder of Stafford" (from Tyler's quarterly magazine, v. 4, 1922-23), and excerpts from Wyndham B. Blanton's Medicine in Virginia in the seventeenth century and Encyclopedia of Virginia biography.
