(1) On Winter's resignation from the Tribune; (2) As the brother of Mortimer Thomson, Clifford Thomson writes that he frequently met literary persons, including Winter some 45 years ago, but his "five years service in the civil war" put him out of touch with most of them. He is enclosing a clipping (no longer enclosed). Both on letterhead of 135 William Street, New York. Letterhead of (2) includes name: The Spectator Company.
