Scope and content
Anonymous notebook of an English Catholic, possibly a priest. Texts include: Part 1: an essay on the Church and a defence of the Mass; and sermons for holy days, including one for the day of St. Elizabeth of Portugal (Part 1, leaves 95r-98r); Part 2: "A short treatise declaringe how necessary the peace of the soule is, and how it is to bee attained" (Part 2, p. 1-39); "A Contemplation of heauen," dedicated to the Lady R.W. (Part 2, p. 41-112); and extracts from ecclesiastical histories and explications in English of Latin passages.
