Contents of Part I: Debts "per me" Thomas Candeler, mercer. Contents of Part II: (1) leaf 5 -- An epistle or exhortation of Jesus Christ to the soul ... [by Joannes Justus Lanspergius], ca. 1590, an English version [attributed to Philip, Earl of Arundel], which follows the printed text of 1592-3 fairly closely, except for the verses and hymns which are very different. It does not have "The Instructions" but does have an extra hymn on leaf 62, as well as some additions and alterations in a different hand. (For a discussion of this and the next two works see Publications of the Catholic Record Society, vol. 21, (1919), p. 324); (2) leaf 70 -- Letter from Philip [Earl of] Arundel to Elizabeth, Easter 1585, printed op.cit. p. 99; (3) leaf 73 -- a long poem [Fourfold Meditation] "written against Christmas 1587," attributed to Arundel in another hand; (4) leaf 100v -- the song, Come live with me and be my love [by Marlowe], and its Response [by Raleigh]; (5) leaf 101v -- Mr. Parkinson's speech to the king at Berwick, [1604]; (6) leaf 102 -- part of [The device to entertain Her Majesty at Harefield, 1602], attributed to John Davies by A. Harbage ... in Annals of English drama ... 1964 (see X.d.172); (7) leaf 105 -- Aphorism [from Book I of Sir Robert Dallington's Aphorisms ... out of ... Fr. Guicciardine], translated into Latin by John Ware (see leaf 124v) - the first 13 and part of the 14th only; (8) Numerous abstracts of leases ... or properties in London and Middlesex, 1550-1590, belonging to Richard Buckland and his son Didimus, including the will of Richard, August 22, 1573, proved August 19, 1575; (9) Miscellaneous papers relating to Ireland including an extent and an inquisition of lands in Esker [near Lucan, co. Dublin], temp. Henry VIII and July 26, 1547, leases made by the dean and chapter of St. Patrick's Cathedral, Dublin, 1557-1582, several royal grants of offices, 1586-1595, and The present state of Ireland touching the rebels and their strength both of horse and foot, [at the arrival of the earl of Essex, April 1599], leaf 98, printed with marked differences in Cal. of S.P.
