Scope and content
Given on the occasion of his election as Speaker of the House of Commons, with the conventional affirmations of loyalty and pleas of unfitness for the office; together with a copy, in another hand, of the first part of his second address to the King, in answer to the Lord Keeper's reply to his first speech. Second speech is incomplete or unfinished.

Rough copy, with various amendments, alternate readings and crossings out. Pen trials, including the name "Willoughby," appear in left margin.
