Title
Collection of antiquarian papers [manuscript], ca. 1600.
Description
368 leaves.
Scope and content
Loose papers on heraldic and other subjects, bound together ca. 1800, possibly by Sir George Nayler, Garter, whose bookplate is on flyleaf. Many notes of Ralph Brooke's after leaf 157, full of corrections and interlineations, the papers often in a muddled order. Many of the notes are of mistakes in Camden's Britannia, and on leaf 321 is Brooke's "Second discoverie of certain errours published in ... Britannia," later printed by John Anstis in 1723; manuscript is not quite complete, lacking the last 7 p. as printed, and the appendix; the material for it is probably to be found elsewhere in the notes.
