Title
Visitation of Warwickshire [manuscript], 1619.
Description
166 leaves.
Associated name
Scope and content
Additions in an 18th century hand, bringing some pedigrees down to ca. 1770. The manuscript states that this is the visitation of Chitting, Chester Herald, but the 1619 visitation as printed by the Harleian Society was made by Sampson Lennard and Augustine Vincent as deputies for William Camden, Clarenceux King of Arms. There are some textual variations: whereas the manuscript gives particulars up to 1619 only, the printed text often has additional births, marriages and deaths up to 1623. Two families appear to be in the printed version but not in the manuscript: Grammer and Leving; apart from this, trees for exactly the same families are in both print and manuscript.
