Westmacott carefully names the physicians, surgeons and apothecaries under whom he learned his trade. On p. 5 is part of the will of his father, William Westmacott, and on p. 7-11, two lists of the births and deaths of the writer's brothers and sisters, and a few household recipes. Also, in a different hand, the accounts of a dissenter (?) living in Gloucestershire, and notes of money and books, mainly religious, lent, 1724-1728.

William Westmacott was born in Gloucestershire and traveled and practiced in the West Midlands before settling in Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire in 1676.
