Autograph copy by Robert G. Ingersoll, mounted on another leaf with another smaller piece of paper that reads: Robert G. Ingersoll's Peroration on Shakespeare, in his own handwriting. The statement itself is short and states, "Shakespeare was an intellectual ocean toward which all rivers ran and from which now the isles and continents of thought receive their dew & rain." This quotation can be found in the Address to the Actors' Fund of America, delivered by Ingersoll on June 5, 1888.
