Scope and content
To reconfirm purchase of New Place, Stratford-upon-Avon, which was originally purchased in May 1597 from Underhill's father, William. The elder Underhill died two months after the initial purchase, supposedly poisoned by his eldest son Fulke, who was hanged in 1599 for the crime.
Note
Contains two parts of the final concord, those of the purchaser, Shakespeare, and of the vendor, Hercules Underhill. The third part, or "foot," was retained by the court and is now part of The National Archives, Kew (CP 25/2/237/44/45ElizIMich, no. 15).
