Letter on p. 205 written and signed by Anne Procter and her daughter, Edythe. There are many references to contemporary authors, including Robert Browning, Thomas Hardy, Bret Harte, Henry James and William Makepeace Thackeray. In one (p. 175) she comments on Tennyson's simple, honest and straightforward style. In two (p. 161-63) she mentions Adelaide Sartoris' death.
