Methua praises his wife's talents for both comedy and tragedy: "she is a splendid Juliet and an excellent Beatrice." Mentions her recent "tremendous triumph as Desdemona," in which she spoke German to Bogumil Dawison (Othello) and English to Edwin Booth (Iago) and the company. He also hopes that Mrs. Boucicault (Agnes Robertson) will visit the United States again, and he offers his assistance in producing "the greatest possible eclat" if she will come. Hand-illuminated ("Dion Boucicault, Esq." and initial at beginning) and cut-out photographs of Agnes Robertson and Marie Methua-Scheller pasted down.
