Scope and content
The letters concern Woods' research in England, including the topic of Sir Ferdinando Gorges. He also mentions Gorges' nephew, Francis Champernowne, and meeting with Sir Thomas Phillipps. Letters (1-3) addressed "My dear Sir" and (4-5) are addressed "My dear friend." All are addressed from London, Brunswick House Hotel, Hanover Square. Correspondent's name comes from a note with the letters (now in curatorial file).
