Summary
(1), written from Holmwood, Shiplake, Henley on Thames, includes criticism of Frank Marshall's "Study of Hamlet." Also mentions "the existing Shelleys." In (2), written from 3 Great James St., Swinburne mentions that he has been amusing himself by writing a satire "Report of a meeting of the Newer Shakspere Society." In (3), written from The Pines, 11 Putney Hill, S.W., Swinburne declares "but that Marlowe was the chief author of the second & third parts of King Henry VI I have no more doubt than that Shakespeare was the author of the magnificent monologue of Clifford over his father's body." Also encourages Rossetti to make acquaintance with works of Dekker and Middleton: Old Fortunatus, The honest whore, The changeling and The Spanish gipsy.
