Scope and content
Asks that Mr. Winter add to his list of Baconian Theory expressions of the following stumbling blocks: (1) There are almost 100,000 lines added in the First Folio (posthumous) version of Shakespeare's plays to the Quarto (lifetime) version. (2) The "parallelisms," in thoughts, errors, opinions, phraseology, speeches, etc., on which the 'Baconians' rely are mostly ... between the acknowledged Baconian words and the F(1) version of the plays. (3) Ben Jonson wrote and said uncomplimentary things about Shakespeare during his (Shakespeare's) lifetime. The eulogy quoted by Mr. Winter is prefixed to F.1 seven years after Shakespeare's death.
