Uniform title
Journal of Parliament of 1601
Description

Associated name
Scope and content
Substantially the same as D'Ewes Journals, but with many variations from the text edited by Paul Bowes, 1682 (Wing D1250). Chief difference is that manuscript acknowledges that as well as the official journals of the Lords and Commons, the writer has used "the very laborious and copius journal of the House of Commons taken ... by Heyward Townsend Esq.", which is always quoted anonymously in the printed edition. The manuscript tends to be a fuller account. It may be a copy from D'Ewes original without the changes made by Bowes as editor.
