Watson writes that his friend cannot possibly write tonight and knowing how anxious the recipient must be to know the result of his first Lear, he has only to say that the reception is enthusiastic and throughout the play the applause was tremendous. "A time will come when his Lear will rival the palm with his splendid representation of Hamlet." Letter is addressed "Dear Madam."
