Includes the confession of the Duke of Norfolk, 1572; the arraignment of Robert, Earl of Essex and Henry, Earl of Southampton, 1601; the letter to Lord Monteagle revealing the gunpowder plot, 1605; Vox spiritus or Sir Walter Raleigh's ghost, 1620 (See V.a.223); the articles of marriage between England and Spain, 1622-1623; and between England and France, 1524; speeches in Parliament and the Council, 1624-1629; lists of the king's ships ... 1627, 1635, 1636; a mock inventory mentioning the play The valiant Welshman; and poems, among others Basse's epitaph on Shakespeare, (p. 174), an epitaph on Ben Jonson, (p. 177), Rosamon to King Henry II, (p. 187), and the Caledonian Forest by J. Hepwith (Wing H1486, p. 63). The binding consists of an apprenticeship indenture, 1619, a deed relating to property in Hampstead, Middlesex, 1645, with a note of christenings in the Freelove, James and Bancrofte families.
