Summary
In (1), written from Philadelphia and addressed to "My dear Wright," Murdoch states his preference to open in Hamlet, since his reputation is founded on his performance of that character. (2), written from St. L[uni?]s and addressed "Dear Sir," mentions that he has Hamlet, Othello and Macbeth "arranged for Reading, Recitation & Remarks."
