Includes poetry of Henry King, Thomas Carew, Ben Jonson, William Alabaster, Robert Herrick, Richard Corbett, Robert Gomersall, John Milton, Thomas Randolph, John Grange, Gervase Warmestry, Francis Beaumont, Francis Bacon, John Donne, the poem starting "Come live with me and be my love," attributed to Marlowe and quoted in Merry Wives of Windsor, and poetry of Richard Griffith and Elizabeth Griffith from selections of their anonymously published letters.

Missing leaves 7-9 (affecting text), 54-55, 95, and 102. Leaf 49a not numbered. A photocopy of missing leaf 8 is laid in at end of volume (photocopy of MS 2216 in the Halliwell-Phillipps collection (A5.23) in Chetham's Library). For the missing leaf 9 see Folger MS V.a.505, p. 27.
