Contains a prayer of Fénelon (p. i); reflections on questions of literature, philosophy and government with references to Corneille, Racine, Milton, Shakespeare (p. 11), Spenser, Bacon and many contemporaries; excerpts and summaries of passages from literary works, maxims and quotations from several poems. At the end in a different hand is a brief account of the various parts of the world and of their systems of government. One poem listed in Folger index of first lines.
