Formerly the property of David Garrick. Inscription on interior lid: "This box belonged to GARRICK and is made of the wood from Shakespeare's Mulberry Tree. Contents a piece of the Mulberry Tree planted by GARRICK at his Villa Hampton Court. Sugar Tongs made of the wood from Shakespeare's Mulberry Tree. From Horace Walpoles Collection".
Contents of casket: a piece of the mulberry tree planted by Garrick in a wraparound cover (Wood no. 29b), sugar tongs housed in an oblong box (Wood no. 29c), and an unidentified fragment of carved wood inside an envelope (Wood no. 29d).
