The manuscript copies contain 285 lines each while the printed copy has only 255 lines. The first line of the printed copy differs from the manuscript copies. Essay attributed to John Sheffield, then Earl of Mulgrave, in Hugh Macdonald's Dryden bibliography. It has also been attributed to Dryden.
