Summary
The contents, with many references to contemporary and ancient works, illustrate his theological dispute with Anonymous Eremita [i.e. Thomas Doughty]. He sets out the differences between the Reformed Church and the Roman Church and drafts several replies to "Mrs" Copley [possibly John Copley, rector of Pluckley, Kent - see Camden Society Publications, no. 80, p.47] and Anonymous Eremita, at first as though he were a potential convert to Catholicism. The letter on leaf 7 is a rough draft for the one on b3 of The fower cardinall-vertues...by him, 1641 (Wing D1110). In his preface to the Reader, Dering refers to his having contemplated a [full] reply but was delayed.
