Contains all but eight of the sonnets, "A lover's complaint", "The passionate pilgrim" (mostly not by Shakespeare), "The phoenix and the turtle" (attributed to Shakespeare), and poems of miscellaneous authors.

Manuscript markings on t.p., A1r, and front paste-down. Provenance: armorial bookplate of Thomas Jolley; inscribed on front paste-down: "George Daniel. Canonbury July 1844." Acquired by Miss Burdett-Coutts from the sale of George Daniel's library by Sotheby, Wilkinson & Hodge, 20 July 1864, lot nos. 1416/1457. Burdett-Coutts acquired a copy of the First Folio (Folger STC 22273 Fo.1 no.05) in the same transaction and had an ornamental wooden casket carved by William Perry from Herne's Oak to hold both volumes. (The casket is stored separately as Folger Wood no.14.)
